Baobab oil is obtained from the seeds of the baobab tree (also known as monkey bread tree) (Adansonia digitata L.).

The baobab can grow up to 25 meters high, belongs to the Bombacaeae family and stands out in the landscape in which it grows due to its characteristic appearance. The seeds have a fatty oil content of approx. fifteen%.
Originally native to Africa, monkey breadfruit now also grows in warm regions of Asia and the Americas.
