The Spice Route had become a path shared by merchants from various countries. From the East, passing through Arabia, spices were transported to India, where they were sold in ports. The Arab merchants were in charge of getting them to the Mediterranean basin. From these eastern Mediterranean ports, the Italian merchants transported the merchandise to those of Venice and Genoa, distributing the spices to the rest of Europe.
