Spirulina is a primitive single-celled algae, which has a spiral shape, hence its name. It is blue-green in colour due to the presence of Chlorophyll, which gives it a greenish tone, and Phycocyanin, a protein which gives it its bluish tone. It is a very suitable food for the human being, because of the great amount of essential nutrients it provides: proteins, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and Chlorophyll. Spirulina is dried and converted into powder, through a process of evaporation that allows to preserve all its nutrients.
